Dancing Adelaide

Dancing Adelaide

A few months ago I returned once more to Adelaide—its beautiful beaches and more intimate scale is a welcome relief from the increasing mayhem of Melbourne.

I have begun to introduce some dance classes and improvisation workshops at the centrally located Finsart studio, Level 4, 14 Grenfell Street, Adelaide

Contemporary Dance—Tuesdays 6–7.30 pm   until December 11th    (Casual rate $15)

A contemporary dance class for anybody wanting to reconnect with their moving body.

This contemporary dance class builds steadily from a thorough warm-up drawing on image-based, release and floor work to several original rhythmic movement sequences. There is an emphasis on cross-rhythmic patterning and musicality in the material as well as a reflection of Dianne’s background in Martha Graham-derived techniques and her ongoing yoga practice. Dianne draws from an eclectic range of music that can challenge and stimulate renewed attention to personal performance presence and new stylistic interpretations.

Shared Improvisation Practice—Wednesdays 6.30–8.30pm   until November 28th  (Casual rate $10)

This is a drop-in practice for physical improvisers working in a range of performance modes—dance, physical theatre, voice/text.
Hosted by Dianne Reid and Cinzia Schincariol these sessions start with a facilitated warm-up, leading into the practice of a range of movement and vocal scores.
Each week may have a different focus but there is always room for participants to request, suggest, input.
The second half of the session generally moves into performing and witnessing as solos or groups.
